“Dear Grandmaster, I have returned to train after more than 10 years and just wanted to pass on some heartfelt feedback. I loved the club back then as it felt so full of healthy values - the club oath seemed/ felt very lived by all the instructors I trained under (Mr Edmonds and Mr DeLuca primarily). I left when my oldest was about 4 and have now returned with my youngest who is about 6 - he is (undiagnosed ADHD), full of beans, often tired, distractible, challenging for the instructor (lovely Miss Lack), but she and the other black belts are full of patience, kindness and acceptance. I wondered if I should stay as didn’t’ want to affect the class, but with the lovely other blackbelts (Mr Cruise and Mr Waldron ) I have decided to stay on as I know long-term it will be good for him. One other side note is that after a few weeks of training, James (I know he is a black belt now but I can’t remember his surname as I always knew him as James as we started as white belts together) walked in and supported the class. It was so heartwarming to see he stayed and progressed and was lovely to reconnect. Youv’e built and maintained such a beautiful, respectful, ethical, community minded beautiful club - and sometimes nice feedback isn’t always forthcoming - Just wanted to pass this on. My best, Leisa Smith (starting again happily at white belt).”
“We really enjoy Mr Jamble’s teaching at Mt Gravat centre. Kids love him somuch. He always teaches great skills and throws out awesome training. Wehope he can attend this centre more often if possible. Thanks.”
“I bought my 2 boys to this club because my last club charged me $75 per boy each fortnight for 2 classes per week of 45 minutes. When I called the master and told him he told us of the 1st month free offer so I thought why not compare . I thought there must be a catch somewhere at $95 per month for unlimited training or my boys would be getting less but I was wrong . It offers so much more and the standard of teaching and students is so much higher than our old club. It’s more professional than others I have seen and to speak directly to the master is a real blessing. I am telling all my friends that this club is the best I have seen and everyone is so motivated to help my boys. Should have done it sooner and there is no going back now.”
“We are so grateful to Grand Master Russell Macarthur for his contribution to our Wangarra men’s Group program. We had three self-defence sessions to newly arrived migrants from refugee backgrounds. Grand Master received our group with warm and humble welcome. The men were so excited while practicing and learnt easy and practical self-defence techniques in so much fun and disciplined classes. We really appreciate his added value to our program.”
“We are the recipients of a charity grant from Russell Macarthur Taekwondo. It is great that we have created such a wonderful partnership with the club. We are now able to support many more families who have a member with a disability at no cost to the family thanks to their generosity and sense of community. Not only do members gain so much from being part of an impressive organisation but they give so much too. Thankyou Russell and all your members. ”
“No one wants to get to those grey twilight years of life and ask themselves why didn’t I try a little harder. Regret is a very powerful emotion to have to live with. The Russell Macarthur Taekwondo Club motto is –‘’ Self Improvement through Self Discipline’’ The practice of self discipline, to do the uncomfortable things you need to do, goes a long way to a life with few regrets. The club also encourages such values as humility, determination and an enthusiasm to help others less fortunate. Anyone considering joining this club will find a great culture of belonging, inspiration to do well and a way of life through self improvement that offers an extremely rewarding and satisfying life.”
“I remember my reluctant self being dragged along to my first Taekwondo class in 2006, at age 7. My parents encouraged me at the time to try it out. Little did I know that it would have such a profound impact on both my personal development as a young boy and general fitness. It steered me in the right track from a very young age. Put simply, Russell Macarthur Taekwondo helped shaped me into the young man I’ve become today- one of humbleness, understanding and fairness. The lessons learnt every Thursday and Sunday night repeating exercises up and down Runcorn hall will never be forgotten. Not only does Taekwondo teach self-defence techniques, but life long skills. I cannot stress that enough. Thank you, Russell.”
“Russell Macarthur Taekwondo is so much more than self-defence, the attention to classes, programs, students, respect, focus, motivation, discipline and organisation is excellent. It is ‘a club not a business’ and to feel part of a much bigger group where the support is amazing and then gives back to the community by supporting charities. With locations all throughout Brisbane where you can train every day if you like at no additional cost.”
